Lecturer – Larry Ham
Learn over 100 Fascial Counterstrain techniques to alleviate abnormal soft tissue tension in the neck, thoracic, peritoneal and pelvic cavities. These techniques will address viscerospasm and hypertonicity of the visceral ligaments and vasculature which are responsible for many common complaints including shoulder, cervical, thoracic and lumbar pain, sciatica, medio-scapular pain and irritable bowel syndrome, gerd and more. Newly published research regarding the sensory and contractile properties of fascia and fascial proprioceptors will be reviewed as a physiological rationale.

Course conducted by Larry and ably supported by Haydn was wonderfully done. They made the topic very interesting and helped us see the impact of the visceral system on common conditions we see in the clinic. Brilliant as always.

Even though I repeated this class, I found it reinforced my past workshop about 5 years ago as well as updating the new introduced techniques on the mesentery so it was extremely worthwhile to repeat.
I found Larry as previously to be an extremely informative, interesting and
fun teacher with a great sense of humour.

This course is quite comprehensive and good value as Larry Ham rightly says it covers the equivalent of 3-4 Barrel visceral courses. In comparison to many other courses outside the FCS curriculum, I found the manual to be very attractive and excellently presented albeit a few minor errors. The teaching by Larry and Hadyn were excellent with contrasting but very effective styles and the lab work was well supervised and clearly presented with use of video imaging. I would have liked to have some more visual aids such as some 3D anatomical pictures or props added in the mesentery section, which was my favourite section. Visceral FS will certainly be a powerful tool to have in the clinic. Thank you MTI for bring this valuable course and others like it to Adelaide!

I recently had the pleasure to attend the FCS Visceral course in Adelaide with Larry Ham and Haydn Gambling. Their practical down to earth teaching style of a huge topic inspired to integrate the evaluation and treatment techniques from the course into practice immediately. I have found the information presented in the course very valuable and would highly recommend it to any manual therapist, especially for working with complex patients, including chronic pain patients or those who have just not been improving, as well as for working in women’s, men’s and pelvic health and continence. Thanks for bringing this course to Adelaide!

Thanks for your positive feedback Barbara. I look forward to catching you at the next FCS course.

Fantastic course and lucky it’s now including the new mesentery components. Larry and Haydn were great presenters, imparting their knowledge and clinical experience while keeping the approach simple enough to be incorporated into practice immediately. Great to be building on the theory of previous courses too, such that I feel the clinical reasoning of when to perform these techniques and where to start has really clicked. I have a feeling this course will open a lot of opportunities to treat some of the more complex client presentations that just don’t seem to get the improvements with a more mainstream or one dimensional treatment approach. It also feels like the body of evidence is growing in this area. Definitely would recommend.

Thanks for your comprehensive feedback Rachel. Great that you gained so much from the course.

Demonstrations within the course showed the power of treating this way.
It is content that will help a lot of people.
Highly recommended

A great course by Larry Hams, he knows how to impart knowledge well. These techniques are clearly powerful and are immediately applicable for my clients.
Unfortunately the manual has a few too many errors but that’s not insurmountable.
Peer reviewed evidence base was not discussed but good anatomy review

I have just taken the Visceral class again and it larger and substantially improved upon in terms of content and presentation. Larry Ham is a brilliant teacher and very ably assisted by Hayden Gambling. The techniques will be put to good use immediately and will make a huge difference in clinic. I can not over emphasise how powerful this work is and really helps breakthroughs with difficult to fix patients. The manuals were dramatically better than last time, yet there is still room for improvement in the pictures , arrows and labelling! If you are thinking about this course, just DO IT!

Really enjoyed the SCSVC class with consolidation of assessment and techniques previously taught being highly valuable. Larry was fabulous as a presenter and the class size was great allowing easy access to Larry when assistance was needed. I do agree that a more updated manual would be helpful with all diagrams present but this is only a small knock on what was a great weekend of manual therapy education.

An excellent course, practical and well presented. The course manual was very good with larger print and good photos. The evidence base rating is low due to the poor practical research component. There is no doubt the research is thorough on physiology and the role of fascia in our bodies. I am hoping soon the Jones Institute will run clinical trials. Strain counterstrain is an effective way of treating our clients and I am looking forward to integrating this new work. Teresa Beltrame Adelaide.

Another great course at JI Australasia, informative theory with demonstration and supervised labs. Enjoyable as usual.

I enjoyed the course because it was very practically orientated and will make huge changes with my clients. The updated manuals were great apart from a few missing photos on the newly discovered points which I’m sure will be rectified by the next time it’s run.

Another outstanding course and superbly delivered by Larry Hams. Larry is a great chap, very funny, knowledgable and highly experienced. The only negative aspect being the appalling manual – it needs urgently revamping with either a sequence of photos with properly labelled arrows or supply a video. Likewise the spelling mistakes and inaccurate labelling.
Otherwise the subject matter is amazing and will have a huge impact in my ability to have a therapeutic effect on my patients.
